Things Every Business Owner Should Remember

When you run a business, you have a lot on your plate. You have to juggle scheduling staff, keeping enough inventory on hand, and bringing in new customers. In the chaos of everyday life, you want to ensure that you don’t forget to continually inspect and maintain parts of your business. Here are some things that you should never forget.

Check the Automatic Door

Having an automated door is nice because clients with full hands can easily get out, and people in wheelchairs or those using strollers don’t have to struggle to open the door. You don’t want to forget to check your automated door energy compliance to ensure that it’s working as it should be and that you aren’t having problems with the door opening. Additionally, you want to periodically make sure to check the settings on the door are acceptable. For example, you don’t want the power to go out and have the door slam back on someone. So, you want to verify that the closing speed is set at an acceptable level.

Look for Potential Security Issues

No matter what kind of business you run, you’re at risk of a break-in. Thieves want your inventory as much as they want any cash you have on hand. Because of that, you should never neglect the security measures you have in place. If you notice that some cameras have stopped working, then immediately get them repaired. Depending on your insurance policy, you could find that not having working cameras means that your claim is denied if you were to ever get robbed.

Remove Tripping Hazards

When you have a busy business, sometimes things get dropped onto the floor and forgotten. Even a tiny piece of paper can be a potential hazard if someone slips because of it. To avoid any potential problems, make sure you walk the floor multiple times a day to ensure that boxes aren’t in the way and that anything that has fallen on the floor is immediately picked up.…

Tips for Creating Unique Packaging

Whether you sell food products, household goods or bath and beauty items, the packing that houses your products makes a difference. The consumer packaged goods market is getting more creative every day and driving brands to create unique experiences with their products. Getting your packaging to tell your story and feel inviting can be a tough task, though. That’s why it can help to follow these easy tips for creating unique packaging.

Create an Experience

Package concepts and materials should all be part of your overall brand experience. Customers want to feel like they know you, like your friends, like they’re part of a larger experience through your brand. This is so many companies are opting to add unique features to their packaging.

Brands that rely on monthly subscriptions might add little notes like “Hey, there!” or “It’s finally here!” on their boxes to engage consumers. Vital Farms includes bonus artwork and fun facts on the inside of their butter packaging. Little things like this can serve as fun ways for customers to interact with your brand and learn more about your mission.

Consider Its Function

It’s easy to get sucked into the design of your product, but you want to make sure it’s functional too. So when you’re choosing materials and coming up with the construction think about three things:

  • How will it be shipped?
  • How will it be opened?
  • How will it be used?

Your packaging design should meet the needs of your product and customer at all three of these stages. It should be safely protected from dangers during shipping, easy to access once it’s delivered and simple to use effectively.

Keep It Simple

A major aspect of any packaging is your messaging. Your package isn’t meant to tell your entire brand story; it’s there to give the highlights. Include a powerful marketing message, but try to keep it as simple as you can. For example, if your brand is committed to reducing its carbon footprint, you could include a simple phrase like “Eliminating 20% of greenhouse gasses every day.” This shows people you’re committed to a higher cause without overwhelming them with information when they’re trying to learn about your product. You could always include links to your social media accounts or web page for people to learn more about your mission.

Creating unique packaging is easy if you can create an experience, consider its function and keep your message simple.

How To Get Out of Debt Quickly

If you feel like you are drowning in debt, it is time to make a plan to get out of debt and get your finances onto a stable footing. Don’t wait any longer to conquer the bad habit of getting into debt. Here are some tips to help you.

1. Stop Borrowing Money

The first thing to do when you want to get out of debt is to stop creating more debt. Even if you still have room on your credit cards to charge some more items, don’t do it. Cut up your credit cards, or at least leave them at home, and don’t take them out unless it is an emergency.

2. Think About Consolidating Your Debt

If you are overwhelmed with all the payments you have on all your various loans and credit cards, it may be time to consolidate it into one loan. This might seem to go against the first step of not creating new debt, but in this step, you don’t want to create new debt. You just want to consolidate your existing debt into one loan. Do some research on various MaxLend loans you could use for your debt consolidation.

3. Create a Budget

You will first need to figure out what you are spending money on, and then create a realistic budget for yourself so that you don’t spend more than you earn. To track your spending, you could use an app created for that purpose, or just write down everything you spend in a month. Then, use that information to create a monthly budget. Make sure that the numbers add up to less than you earn, otherwise you will have to see where you can eliminate expenses or get a part-time job to make more money in order to balance your budget.

4. Pay As Much As You Can Toward Your Debt

You should make more than the minimum payments on your credit cards. Otherwise, it is going to take a long time to get out of debt. You may want to use the snowball method, where you pay as much as you can toward one credit card until that one is paid off. Then you use the money you formerly paid toward that card to attack the next card until that one is paid off too. Keep doing this until they are all paid off.

5. Negotiate Your Debts

If, despite your best efforts, you are not making any headway on paying off your debts, you may want to call your creditors and negotiate your debt. You can try to get your interest rate reduced, which will reduce your monthly payments. You can try to negotiate a debt settlement, where you settle the debt for a lower amount. You may even be able to lower some of your monthly bills, such as the cable bill or cell phone bill.

Don’t stay stuck in the mode of constantly falling behind on your bills. Take control of your debt by following these steps to get out of debt as quickly as you can.…
