During this time, making sure your store is clean and the surfaces are sanitized is vital. Doing this keeps your customers as well as your staff healthy from the Covid-19 virus. Here are a few ways that you can keep those you work with well.
Wipe Down Surfaces
Using janitorial cleaning rags, scrub all your hard, flat surfaces with soap and water then use a disinfectant to go over the space a second time. Always wear a mask and gloves while you do this. If you have a chance, you should do this between each customer or as frequently as possible. If it is a cart handle, point of sale keypad, or a pen to sign with, you certainly must sterilize after each use. You should also cleanse doorknobs, door handles, phones, and keyboards as often as possible. Follow the directions on the disinfectant that you choose to determine how long it should sit on the surface before it is wiped off.
Cleaning Soft Surfaces and Carpets
Wearing disposable gloves, scrub at the spot with soap and water or an approved disinfectant. Be sure that the chemicals you are going to use are less likely to discolor the fibers or ruin what you are sanitizing. If you plan to launder the item, try to keep it steady as you put it in the washing machine. Once you have started the washing machine, take off your gloves and wash your hands thoroughly. If what you are cleaning is on the carpet, vacuum it once you are finished disinfecting it.
If There Is Someone Who Has Contracted the Virus
If one of your staff is diagnosed with Covid-19 or you are notified that a customer has it, shut down the areas of the facility that they were in. If you are able to, open up doors and windows to let the fresh air in. Wait as long as you can before you start cleaning, preferably at least 24 hours.
